Artist's Statement:
During the day Melissa teaches science to middle school students in the Brookline Public School system where she has taught since 2005. Around the edges—nights, weekends, summers—Melissa takes pictures.

Originally drawn to photography as a way to document significant people and moments in her life, her photographs have evolved to look outward at both the urban landscape that is her home and the natural landscape that she enjoys escaping to once in a while.

She has recently begun to exhibit her photographs more broadly, with exhibitions in both solo and group shows in and around Boston. She has been a member of the Cambridge Art Association since the spring of 2015. Her work has been commissioned by several private collectors, as well as the owner of ZONE-Designs in Brookline, MA.

Melissa lives with her wife, Margo, and their dog Chance in Somerville, MA.
