I make wheel-thrown and hand-built functional pottery with the emphasis on the tactile, the intention of contemplation, and the aesthetics of wabi-sabi.
The objects made by my hands should feel right in your hands, unique pottery from which to eat and drink while pondering life, the universe, and everything.

Or simply enjoy a nice hot cup of tea.

Wabi-sabi is a vague and complex Japanese term that expresses the beauty in imperfection, the acceptance of impermanence, and the bittersweet joy of a fleeting moment.
As one author concisely wrote, it "nurtures all that is authentic by acknowledging three simple realities: nothing lasts, nothing is finished, and nothing is perfect." (i.e. everything is imperfect, impermanent, and incomplete)

I attempt to capture this concept in the vessels I create with the hope that they will be enjoyed frequently and cherished often.
These are meant to develop a patina, not gather dust.
Perhaps you will notice something new with each and every use - in the touch of the surface or balance of the shape, a color or detail previously unnoticed, maybe you will have some profound personal reflection or create new memories with one of my textured tea bowls in your hands.

Or merely experience a mindful moment just being, as is, here and now.

All of my pottery is high-temperature fired stoneware and porcelain (cone 10 reduction & oxidation) and is non-toxic, lead-free, dishwasher-ready, and microwave-safe.
